Description | Broome DDSO is seeking a contractor to install new concrete sidewalk at Diane Dr. The new walkway must be accessible and constructed out of concrete. The successful bidder shall provide all labor and materials necessary to complete the work in a professional manner according to below scope of work and general requirements. A site visit required. Details regarding setting up the site visit are listed after the scope of work and general requirements listed below. Scope of work includes, but is not necessarily limited to the following: 1. Location of sidewalk project in picture below marked in Red. 2. Remove old sidewalk and properly dispose of all materials. Saw cut sidewalk that the new is adjacent to. 3. Install and properly compact 6" of gravel subbase underneath all areas where new walk is to go. Gravel shall be placed in 3" lifts and compacted between each lift. Gravel shall be washed #2 stone. Area prepared shall support a concrete walkway 4' wide going from driveway to existing sidewalk. 4. Properly install concrete walkway in area that was excavated. Concrete walkway shall be composed of 6" of 4500 PSI concrete. Walkway shall be reinforced with welded wire mesh (6" x 6”, #10 x #10). Wire mesh shall be supported during concrete pour to be located midway in the pad. Air shall be entrained in the concrete to no less than 4% of the volume of the total pour and no more than 8%. Walkway should be 4' wide going from driveway to existing sidewalk. 5. Walkway shall have proper control joints placed not more than 5' apart, it shall have an expansion joint where it meets existing sidewalk. 6. Walkway shall have a broom finish or other facility approved non-slip finish. 7. Walkway shall be sealed with a penetrating sealer as soon as allowed by manufacture directions. Sealer shall be approved by facility personal and shall be rated to protect the concrete from the effects of ice melt. 8. Ground shall be sloped away from walkway for at least 36" on either side unless obstructed by a structure. Walkway shall be no more than 2" above ground on either side. Ground shall be left in a smooth rock free and tamped state, but contractor shall be excused seeding due to the lateness in the season. 9. Contractor shall be responsible for providing coverings, additives, or anything else necessary to get walkway to properly cure in inclement weather. Contractor shall not be excused from meeting project deadlines due to weather. 10. Sidewalk shall be fenced off with construction fencing when it is left to cure. 11. All work done shall comply with NYS Building Code and all other applicable codes. 12. All construction related debris are the contractor’s responsibility to removed and dispose of properly.
