Description

The work consists of but is not limited to the demolition of existing odor control, HVAC, and electrical equipment and systems in the Headworks, and the installation of new HVAC and odor control equipment and systems (including odor control units, makeup air unit, exhaust fans, new boiler system, and associated controls), electrical systems (including wiring to support HVAC and odor control equipment, and gas detection systems), and structural work to support the HVAC improvements. The work also includes replacement of grating in the Headworks. Bids shall be on a lump sum basis as indicated in the Bid Form. All Bids for this project are subject to the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 149, Section 44A - 44J inclusive or as amended. In accordance with Section 44D of Chapter 149 of the General Laws of Massachusetts as amended, the prospective General Bidders and Filed Sub-Bidders must submit with their Bid, a certificate of eligibility issued by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM), showing that the Bidder has been approved to bid on projects of the size and nature as advertised herein. Prospective General Bidders and Filed Sub-Bidders must also submit an updated statement summarizing their record for the period between the latest DCAMM certificate and the date of the Bid submittal. The DCAMM certificate of eligibility to be submitted by the General Bidder shall be for the category of work defined as "HVAC". The DCAMM certificate of eligibility to be submitted by the Filed Sub-Bidders shall be for the category of work for which they are submitting a Bid. A bid deposit shall be furnished in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Minimum Wage Rates as determined by the Commissioner of Department of Workforce Development under the provision of the Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Section 26 to 27D, as amended, apply to this project. It is the responsibility of the Contractor, before Bid opening, to request if necessary, any additional information on Minimum Wage Rates for those trades people who may be employed for the proposed Work under this Contract. The Work includes the following major items: a. Selective demolition. b. Architectural work 1) Restoration of finishes c. Structural work 1) Infill and penetrations of walls and floors. 2) Indoor and outdoor equipment pads 3) New sidewalk 4) Replacement of headworks channel grating system 5) Equipment supports and other miscellaneous items d. HVAC Work 1) Ground-mounted makeup air unit to serve the headworks (wet) portion of the building, which is a class 1, division 1 area. 2) Exhaust fans to serve the headworks (wet) portion of the building, which is a class 1, division 1 area. 3) Hot water boiler plant, pumps, and accessories 4) Hot water piping distribution system 5) Stainless steel and FRP ductwork 6) Heating terminal equipment 7) Automatic Temperature Controls e. Electrical Work 1) System upgrades to support the new HVAC equipment. 2) Hazardous gas detection systems f. Plumbing Work 1) utility sink 2) domestic water heater 3) gas piping g.
