Description | The Work shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, furnishing all materials, performing all labor and constructing the following, complete in place: 1. Prepare and submit Design Drawings for each corner to include construction ready lines, grades, elevations, and dimensions of the proposed curb ramps in accordance with PennDOT specifications at the locations shown on the Drawings. Topographic survey sufficient to accommodate the necessary design shall be performed. The Drawings represent conceptual layouts and may not dictate the most applicable design for each corner. Contractor must submit Design Drawings that are sealed by a Professional Engineer licensed in Pennsylvania with demonstrated experience during the past 5 years with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and PennDOT curb ramp design standards and other applicable design criteria, standards, guidelines and construction. Design the curb ramps to accommodate the existing utility facilities within the project. Minor utility adjustments such as, but not limited to, minor vertical adjustments of manhole frames, junction box lids, and valve boxes, etc. shall be required where they interfere with the proper location of the curb ramps. The design shall include the layout of a marked crosswalk. Contractor shall submit Design Drawings for each corner to the City for review and approval. Revisions to each drawing and subsequent submissions shall be considered incidental. If the Design Drawings include specific improvements to the curb ramps and crosswalks that require work that is not included in this contract, then the Contractor shall only install those items contained in the contract. Any additional work beyond that of the contract scope of work shall be subject to a change order that must be approved in writing by the Engineer prior to construction. Include as incidental to this work one meeting between the design professional and the City to discuss the design. A corner is defined as: all of the curb ramps, sidewalk, cheekwalls, curbing, and related ADA features associated with a particular intersection corner, whether one (1) or two (2) directional ramps. (4 EA) 2. Remove traffic sign and post as indicated. Includes proper disposal of removed materials and restoration of sidewalk. (4 EA) 3. Remove traffic signal support, including the foundation to a depth of 6”, as indicated. Includes sidewalk replacement over foundation and proper disposal of all removed materials. (2 EA) 4. Remove traffic signal pedestal, including the foundation to a depth of 6”, as indicated. Includes sidewalk replacement over foundation and proper disposal of all removed materials. (2 EA) 5. Remove street light and pole, including the foundation to a depth of 6”, as indicated. Includes sidewalk replacement over foundation and proper disposal of all removed materials. (2 EA) 6. Eradicate crosswalk striping as indicated. (Lump Sum) 7. Construct cement concrete sidewalk, 4” depth, on 4” depth of compacted No. 2B stone base, on prepared subgrade as indicated. Includes excavation, removal and disposal of existing concrete sidewalk. Also includes restoration of any disturbed areas. (1100 SF) 8. Construct plain cement concrete curb as indicated. Includes removal of existing curb and excavation required for forms. Includes pavement restoration as indicated. (140 LF) 9. Install Detectable Warning Surface (DWS), as indicated. Color shall be red or yellow, but all DWS shall be the same color. Construct in accordance with applicable RC-67M details. (8 EA) 10. Install hot thermoplastic white line, 6” width, for crosswalk striping. (300 LF) 11. Install stop sign and post as indicated. (4 EA) 12. Provide and maintain traffic control in accordance with the MUTCD, PennDOT Publication 212, and PennDOT Publication 213. If at any time the required traffic control devices, personnel, etc. are missing and the regulations are not being followed, the work may be immediately suspended until the traffic control problem is rectified. The road shall not be completely closed to traffic at any time. (Lump Sum) |
