Description

The purpose of this specification is to describe a solution to be used as: 1. A liquid melting agent to pre-wet granular sodium chloride or mixes of sodium chloride and abrasives used for deicing of highways during winter maintenance operations. 2. A liquid melting agent to be applied directly to the pavement as an anti-icing application. 3. A solution applied to gravel roads used a soil stabilizer and dust palliative. 4. The brine solution shall be supplied in a 30% (melting agent) and 32% solution (soil stabilizer) strength (by volume). Specification tolerance to + or – 1%. The composition of solids in the solution shall meet the following minimum, percentages of chemical analysis: Calcium chloride 90% Magnesium chloride 8% Potassium chloride 2% Winter Highway Maintenance Operations - 30% Solutions.
