Description | As of July 5, 2023, this project has rebid. Development of the Juniper Street Residences Affordable Housing Development As indicated in the General Information section, the Juniper Street Affordable Housing Development will deliver much needed, affordable homeownership opportunities in West Ashley, Charleston. As part of its efforts to address its housing affordability challenges, the City of Charleston organized the Juniper Street parcel project with the goal of identifying a qualified Development team to construct the project. The development site (TMS 350-03-00-185 and 350-03-00-186) consists of .58 acres on Juniper Street in West Ashley, an established neighborhood that is seeing recent renewal and redevelopment. Project drawings are construction-permit ready. All necessary City of Charleston and other agency approvals have been obtained. With the plans in place, the selected firm shall be responsible to provide comprehensive construction activities that will deliver an affordable townhouse housing development to exemplify the City's investment and support in this community Construction site preparation will consist of tree removals, tree canopy pruning, removals / pruning of tree root systems, rough grading, installation of SWPPP, building pads, utilities planning, traffic control, mobilization activities, etc. Construction will consist of entry road construction, installation of the permanent utilities, construction of the ten (10) townhouse units (5 individual buildings with 2 attached townhouses each), final grading, parking lot construction, concrete flatwork, installation of a common parking area, signage, and site landscaping. Turnkey completion. Charleston purchased a 0.58 acre parcel in the West Ashley area of Charleston, SC to facilitate the creation of affordable, for-sale townhomes. The site, located at 1555 Juniper Street will deliver the construction of ten beautifully designed townhome residences in an established neighborhood in the West Ashley community of Ardmore/Sherwood.
