Demolition of the Old Bethel Police Station

A timeline for award has not yet been established.** The Town of Bethel seeks contractors in order to perform Demolition services for the old police station located at 49 Plumtrees Road. The Board of Selectman, upon recommendation of the Procurement Committee, reserves the right to accept and/or reject any portion of said bid(s), to waive any technicality in any bid or part thereof, and to accept any bid as provided in Section 8-13c of the Charter of the Town of Bethel. The property is located at 49 Plumtrees Road and is owned by the Town of Bethel. The existing building is no longer utilized as a police station. The site consists of the approximately 10,000 square foot building, a small shed on the back, a chain link fence around the existing parking lot and approximately 28,000 square foot of parking lot area. An environmental assessment has been completed by the town's consultant, HYGENIX, Inc., and they have found certain building components to have areas of Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACM's) and significant levels of Lead, as well as Universal Waste. The contractor must demonstrate good faith effort to meet the 25% set-aside goals. Bid results - Demolition - Oscard Abatement LLC - $148,000.00 Abatement - Stamford Wrecking Company - $16,000.00
