Description | The period of performance for this contract is anticipated to include a base year with the option to extend the contract for an additional four (4) years. The Contractor shall be notified by written notice, within 60 days of the contract anniversary date, of the USDA's intent to renew. Scope of Work - The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) intends to award a contract for its preventive maintenance and repair services on the Walk in Walk-In Environmental Rooms and Panasonic Environmental Chambers located at the facility in Coral Gables, FL. The contractor shall provide on-site preventive maintenance and repair service (on an as needed basis) The Contractor shall provide all personnel, tools, materials, supervision and other items and services necessary to perform work requirements 1.3 through 1.4. The walk in Environmental Rooms are used for plant cultivation and insect rearing as well as experimentation with both. A stable temperature (within manufacturer’s specifications) and humidity (within manufacturer’s specifications) is needed to meet rearing and experiential requirements. Most often the temperature set point is 21-27 degree Celsius and 60-70% for humidity However temperatures and humidity outside these standard ranges should be possible for future experiments. The chamber should default back to the set parameters if temporary power loss should occur. Safety systems should provide alarms and automatic shut down if the set parameters are exceeded. These safety parameters should be programmable as they will need to be specific for each experiment or rearing system. The semi-annual preventative maintenance is designed to prepare the equipment for prime operating condition so that the equipment will operate effectively, reliably, and efficiently. All preventive maintenance shall be performed in accordance with the manufacturer recommendations and procedures. |
