Description | Modify the two (2) transfer bridges at the Jamestown Ferry Terminal. The Contractor and the Contractors subcontractors shall pay wages, salaries, benefits, and other remuneration to any mechanic, laborer, or worker employed, retained, or otherwise hired to perform services in connection with the Contract at a rate at least equal to the prevailing wage rates determined by the Virginia Commissioner of Labor and Industry for work to be performed under this Contract, as outlined in Attachment G. The wage determination establishes the rates that must be paid for the entire term of the Contract. Furthermore, the contractor and subcontractors shall maintain the required license throughout the term of the contract. Any questions regarding this Invitation for Bids shall be addressed to Rhonda Tharrington at rhonda.tharrington@VDOT.virginia.gov. The issuing office shall determine whether any addendum should be issued as a result of any questions or other matters raised. Provide questions no later than five business days prior to bid closing. The Commonwealth reserves the right to conduct any test/inspection it may deem advisable to assure goods and services conform to the specifications. The Commonwealth also reserves the right to reject any or all bids, in whole or in part, to waive informalities and to delete items prior to making the award, whenever it is deemed in the sole opinion of the procuring public body to be in its best interest. The contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision, equipment, tools, parts, materials and incidentals as necessary to modify the two (2) transfer bridges at the Jamestown Ferry Terminal. All labor and equipment shall comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Virginia Occupational Safety and Health Program (VOSH), Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC), Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), referenced sections of the current version of VDOT's Road and Bridge Specifications Project #: 00031-047-25620017 Permit #: 22-4030, Special Provisions (Attachment A) and specifications herein Applicable Crossing: James River at the Jamestown Ferry Terminal This project entails modifying the two existing 52' x 15' 2.75" transfer bridges, modifying the existing hydraulic and electrical systems and driving eight (8) - 24" open steel piles, if necessary, to approximately 110' below the mudline utilizing a vibratory hammer, followed by an impact hammer. After steel pipe pile installation is complete, all soil within the piles shall be removed. Reinforcement will be placed per the contactor plans and the piles will be filled with concrete. Form and place cast-in-place pile caps and struts per the contractor plans. There is no wetland impact for this project. |
