Description

CLARIFICATION DEADLINE 4/26/2023 1:00 PM This project will generally consist of curb & sidewalk improvements for ADA accessibility near the student loading/unloading area on the east side of the school. Items for excavation, disposal, restoration of adjacent lawn, and asphalt parking lot restoration will be incidental to the project. Bids must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the bid, made payable to the Parkland School District. Award of Contract, if a Contract be awarded, will be to the lowest responsible bidder, but the Owner reserves the unqualified right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities. The successful Contractor will be required to provide clear criminal background checks for all workers who will be on site. All current Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Standards and Specifications will prevail over all standards and specifications included in this contract. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish and pay for satisfactory Performance and Payment Bonds, each in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Price with a corporate surety approved by the Owner. The work in connection with this project constitutes a Public Works by a Public Body project. Bidders are advised that prevailing minimum wage rates, as set forth in the Contract Documents, must be paid to workmen employed on this project. In addition, the Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, age, color, religion, sex, national origin, or disability. This project will consist of curb and sidewalk improvements on the West side of the elementary building, near the student loading/unloading area. A. The work covered under this project shall generally consist of, but not be limited to, the following: 1. Excavation and disposal of existing curb & sidewalk in designated area. 2. Excavation for new curb & sidewalk. 3. Installation of 4" of 2A stone subbase, and 4" of "PennDOT Class AA" concrete. 4. Installation of "PennDOT Class AA" concrete curb. 5. Restoration of asphalt pavement in parking lot and/or installation of topsoil in grassed areas, temporarily seeded and stabilized. B. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, machinery, apparatus and tools, and perform all operations necessary to install, equip, adjust, and put into satisfactory operation, the work specified and shown on the Drawings and within the Specifications, and shall so connect the various items or sections of the work as to form a complete and properly operating whole. Any labor, material, equipment or apparatus not specifically mentioned herein, or shown on the drawings, which may be necessary for the proper completion of the entire work or of the individual items thereof within the intent of these Specifications and Drawings, shall be furnished by the Contractor without additional compensation. C. All tie-in work with state roads shall be in accordance with PennDOT standards. D. Notice of Award and Notice to Proceed shall be issued by the School District. E. Breakdown of Bidding 1. This project shall be bid as noted in the Bid Proposal. Limits of contract are clearly noted within the specifications. Coordination of work shall be between Contractor, Engineer and Owner. Parkland School District intends to purchase and install a prefabricated aluminum walkway canopy in conjunction with this project. Therefore, the manufacturer specification has been added to the appendix of the specifications as Exhibit C and the bid sheet has been updated to reflect changes in work required by this contract in preparation for canopy installation.
