Description | Pursuant to the Osceola County Procurement Code and all applicable Florida Statutes Osceola County is accepting sealed formal bids for the project known as the Construction Services for Kissimmee to St. Cloud Connector Trail Project (Federal-Aid Funded - LAP) FM#439067-1-58-01 / D522-077-B. Scope of Service: The proposed Kissimmee St. Cloud Connector Trail project is a 1.47-mile-long concrete shared-use path varying in width from 8 ft to 14 ft with approximately 80% of the trail at 14 ft wide. The pavement design for the path includes 4 inch, 6 inch, and 6 inch reinforced concrete. There is a 1,133 ft long section of the trail that runs through the Disston Sugarmill Ruins area, which is a protected area. There is no excavation or grubbing permitted in this area. The trail is to be constructed by laying down a geotextile fabric layer, placing and compacting 4 inches of recycled concrete aggregate base, and constructing 4 in thick concrete trail. Otherwise, this Ruins area is to remain undisturbed. There are four designated areas of subsoil excavation. There are four locations calling for the construction of concrete gravity walls. The plans include the construction of drainage features including 14 inlets, 6 manholes, 1 endwall, and 10 mitered end sections as well as 2,166 ft of drainage pipe. The plans call for the milling and resurfacing of the northbound lanes of Brown Chapel Rd. The appropriate traffic control will be in place for this roadway resurfacing operation. The plans include details for providing permanent tree protection barricades. The section of the trail under the US 192 (SR 500) bridge includes the addition of underdeck lighting. Note: there is no access to the trail project from US 192 to under the bridge.
