Description

Remove and dispose of 3 existing exterior doors on front of building and 2 existing doors on rear of building. (total of 5) Frame in existing door opening on left side of 72" door unit. Install 72" steel exterior double door unit at existing door opening. Frame in existing opening for new door unit. Steel jamb. Install 36" steel RH exterior door unit at existing opening front of building. Steel jamb Form and pour 12' x 12'x 4" concrete pad in front of 72" door unit in front of building. Concrete to be 3,000psi. and broom finished. Install 72" steel exterior double door unit on right side of building. Frame in existing opening for new door unit. Steel jamb Install 36" steel RH exterior door unit on back left of building. Steel jamb Install 36" steel RH door unit in opening between front and rear room. Steel jamb Relocate existing air compressor to rear room and provide necessary wiring and plumbing to connect to existing piping. Prepare and seal existing concrete flooring with Acrylic clear concrete sealer. Remove existing water fountain. Remove existing Masonite siding on front of building and replace with Hardie Primed wood grain 48" x 96" panels. Panels are to be painted to match existing color. Panels are to be attached using galvanized nails. Insulate ceiling and walls with R-13 batt insulation. Install 5/8" FC drywall on ceiling. Install Hardie Primed wood grain 48' x 96" panels on walls. Seal all ceiling rafter voids above top plate of walls with plywood. Install a Mr. Cool 48,000 BTU 230volt, 20.5 seer, dual head ductless mini split AC/Heat system. Model # DIYM248HPW03C00. Can substitute manufacturer with the same specifications as the unit above with approval from BCS. Paint exterior siding and doors with one coat primer and two coats paint. Paint all interior walls and ceiling. One coat primer and two coats of paint. Existing light fixtures are to be removed for install of insulation, drywall and reinstalled in same location. Electrical conduit to be removed from walls and ceiling for install of insulation, siding and drywall and reinstalled in same location. Door hardware to match existing door hardware in Operations building. Brunswick County Schools is informally requesting bids for the performance of the following work or services. Bids shall be binding for 30 days. Bidders must hold a current North Carolina General Contractors License. Information regarding this Informal Bid Request may be obtained from Grady Watkins at 910-782-5077 or gwatkins@bcswan.net. The Contractor shall begin the work upon receipt of the Purchase Order, and expeditiously, with adequate forces, complete the work within the specified calendar days. The required milestone dates, and completion date are included in Exhibit 1. The contractor shall coordinate all work with Operations personnel to ensure minimal disruption to school activities. Should the Contractor fail to substantially complete the Work on or before the date stipulated for Substantial Completion, or such later date as may result from extension of time granted by Owner, he shall pay the Owner, as liquidated damages, the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($250.00) for each consecutive calendar day that terms of the contract remain unfulfilled beyond the date allowed by the Contract, which sum is agreed upon as a reasonable and proper measure of damages which the Owner will sustain per day by failure of the Contractor to complete Work within time as stipulated; it being recognized by the Owner and the Contractor that the injury to the Owner which could result from a failure of the Contractor to complete on schedule is uncertain and cannot be computed exactly. In no way shall costs for liquidated damages be construed as a penalty on the Contractor. The contractor is responsible for all items required to complete the scope of services, those items being included in the scope of services even if not listed below. It is expected that the contractors will visit the site and observe actual conditions prior to placing their bid. The contractor's workmanship shall be equal to or exceed the workmanship of reputable contractors performing similar work in the Wilmington Metropolitan Service Area.
