Construction of Science Museum of Virginia New Parking Deck

Provide drawings and specifications to construct a new parking facility for the Science Museum of Virginia. The Science Museum of Virginia (SMV) requires a new freestanding, approximately 156,276 GSF parking structure to provide approximately 400 spaces, as replacement for the majority of the current site’s surface parking. The new four level (ground level plus three elevated parking levels) precast structure will be located between the SMV Main Building and Children’s Museum of Richmond (CMOR). Exterior precast panels will recall the limestone material and classical details of the SMV. The primary pedestrian entrance to this building will be an open elevator/stair tower at the southeast corner portion of the Deck. An additional open elevator/stair tower is located at the southwest corner adjacent to CMOR. Vehicular access is on the South facade, facing Broad Street, while the vehicular exit drive is from the north side of parking garage; emptying onto Terminal Place. Site work includes re-routing of vehicular drives, elimination of surface asphalt lots, new site lighting and new landscaped pedestrian pathways. The project will be constructed without cessation of SMV or CMOR operations – construction phasing and laydown area will be a cooperative effort with SMV.
