Description | Part 1 of 2 Due: 2:00pm, Thursday, March 16, 2023 Notice is hereby given the Board of Directors for the Franklin Pierce School District No. 402, Pierce County, Washington, is soliciting competitive bids from responsible general contractors for the construction of the Agricultural Resource Center. The project is located at 9516 Waller Road East, Tacoma, WA 98446. The estimate for this work is $4,125,000. Franklin Pierce School District will receive sealed bids for the work associated with the Agricultural Resource Center as noted above at the Entrance of the Franklin Pierce School District Support Services, 11807 24th Ave. E., Tacoma 98445. Bids shall be sealed and labeled: To: Franklin Pierce School District Attention: Robin Heinrichs Sealed Bid Enclosed: Agricultural Resource Center From: (insert bidding entities name) All interested parties are invited to attend. An abstract of the Base Bids and Alternate Bids, if any, will be made available to Bidders, upon request. Bidders attention is called to state of Washington statutes, regulations and rules pertaining to, but not limited to the following for public work projects: non-discrimination in employment and facilities; rates of payment for prevailing wage and fringe benefits to workers; apprenticeship utilizations, forms of bids; bonds, contracts, certificates, restrictions of lien, taxes and retainage; and barrier-free facilities for the accessibility requirements. Bids received after the specified time will not be accepted. It is the sole responsibility of Bidders to deliver their bid to the designated place at the designated time and on the forms provided in the Project Manual. Oral, telephonic, faxed or telegraphic bids are invalid and will not receive consideration. Plan holder registration information will be developed and maintained by ARC including address, fax and phone numbers, and email address. ARC office locations include Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma, and Portland. Bidding documents will be available for examination during the bidding period at selected plan centers. Costs of obtaining documents, as well as delivery or shipping for both full sets and partial sets are to be paid directly to ARC and are not refundable. Bid Security, in an amount of 5% of the bid, must accompany each bid, and shall be accompanied by a bid bond, cashier's check or certified check in the amount of 5% of the total base bid, made payable to the Franklin Pierce School District. No bidder may withdraw their proposal after the hour set for bid opening thereof, or before award of contract, unless award is delayed for a period exceeding 60 calendar days. The Board of Directors of the Franklin Pierce School District reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive any informalities or irregularities in the bidding. The project consists of construction of a new 5,748 sf wood framed STEM Classroom building and associate site work that includes demolition of existing structures. The work includes but is not limited to the following scope: 1. Site work includes building demolition, clearing and grubbing, excavation, storm water conveyance, sanitary sewer piping and holding tank, utilities, concrete and asphalt paving, curbs, landscaping, frontage improvements including lighting. 2. See division 2 for summary of hazardous materials. 3. New construction: a. New building is Type V-B construction, fully sprinklered. The structural system is comprised of structural steel and wood columns, wood beams and wood framed shear walls, with wood I joists and plywood deck roof framing. Interior partitions are wood stud framing. The floors are concrete slab on grade. b. Exterior cladding consists standing seam metal panels, cement board paneling and aluminum storefront. c. Roofing consists of standing seam metal panels over rigid insulation and plywood deck. 4. See mechanical and electrical documents for system summary. 5. Commissioning will be performed by Owner-procured commissioning agent. Contractor coordination with the Owner's commissioning efforts is required. 6. The existing site/farm will remain in operation throughout construction. Coordination with the Owner's schedule will be required including but not limited to start and end of school.
