Description

This project is being let using the single prime bidding and contracting process. DFD will publicly bid the 26 applicable mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP) divisions of work first. Within 5 27 days of the MEP bid opening, DFD will identify a lowest, qualified, responsible, certified bidder in each 28 applicable MEP division of work. These successful MEP bids must be included in all general prime 29 contractor bids received. No later than 5 days after DFD identifies the successful MEP bids, DFD will 30 publicly open general prime contractor bids. General prime contractor bids that do not include the 31 successful MEP bids will be rejected. The state will enter into a single contract with the lowest, qualified, 32 responsible, certified general prime contractor and this general prime contractor will enter into subcontracts 33 with the successful MEP bidders. Levy Hall is the first project of the campus Master Plan objective to develop the entire block bounded by 11 Johnson (north), Park (east), Dayton (south), and Brooks (west) Streets. The block is bisected by Clymer 12 Court running between Park Street and Brooks Street. Two residence halls (Susan B. Davis Hall and Zoe 13 Bayliss Co-Op), along with a single-family residence at the corner of Johnson and Brooks Streets, will be 14 demolished as part of the project to make space for Levy Hall. In addition, three residences south of 15 Clymer Court will be demolished under a separate contract just after commencement of this project to 16 provide limited staging and lay-down space for this project. 17 18 The new facility will be a poured-in-place concrete structure with selected post-tensioned beams. Cladding 19 will be brick, architectural precast panels, aluminum curtain wall, and aluminum storefront. The roof will 20 be fully-adhered EPDM, but will be hot fluid applied at a series of vegetated roofs. The mechanical 21 penthouse will be clad with metal panels. Interior partitions are primarily metal studs and drywall with 22 solid core wood doors in hollow metal frames. Floors are primarily epoxy terrazzo, carpet, polished 23 concrete topping, and porcelain tile; ceilings are primarily acoustical panel lay-in, drywall, acoustical 24 plaster, and exposed structure. Systems include two 4,000-lb passenger traction elevators, public water, 25 storm, sanitary, and electrical; campus chilled water, steam, and signal; stormwater irrigation cistern, and 26 2,600 square feet of rooftop photovoltaic panels. The two largest classrooms will have tiered floors with 27 underfloor dispersion air distribution. The facility will also house a 250-kW natural gas emergency 28 generator.
