Description | This is a Design-Build (DB) construction project to remove the existing sprinkler system and replace with a new fire sprinkler system to meet current NFPA code and hazard classification in Building 209 at NSA-Mechanicsburg, PA. The project will require all site and survey work, engineering, design, labor, material, equipment and supervision required to remove the existing dry sprinkler system and sprinkler valve room and replace with a new hydraulically designed wet sprinkler system. The sprinkler system removal shall include the OS&Y valves in the sprinkler valve rooms and everything downstream. The sprinkler pipe is coated with lead based paint. The contractor must remove the existing items from sprinkler valve rooms; including, walls, ceiling, doors, heaters, lighting, and electrical circuits back to the panel or closest splice if they are not dedicated. The sprinkler valve room construction includes, but is not limited to, gypsum board, asbestos board, and lumber. The construction must provide bollards around the new sprinkler equipment for protection against damage from forklifts. The contractor must install new and complete wet pipe sprinkler systems in building 209. The new sprinkler system must include coverage in the entire warehouse. The area within the warehouse includes sprinkler valve rooms, restrooms, mechanical room, tank room, maintenance rooms, loading dock, lunch room, offices, and transformer room. There are also eight raised room monitors present. Any exterior canopies, covered areas, or loading docks shall have sprinkler coverage. The building is dividing into four (4) separate fire bays by concrete block fire walls. It will also include connecting the new sprinkler system to any existing fire alarm system in the building. The contractor must provide a pressure reducing valve on any domestic water laterals on the incoming sprinkler riser. |
