Description

As of February 15, 2024, per owner, a design team has identified. This project's construction method is design-build. They are currently finalizing CD's and preparing the bid package for advertisement. Anticipated construction start is late summer/early fall 2024. The End of Question period is 5:00 pm, November 15, 2022. All questions regarding this project should be in writing and directed to Darren Redfield, City/County Purchasing at darrenmr@cityofws.org. Existing Conditions - Horizons Park is a 490-acre park located in northern Forsyth County just south of Germantown. The park is essentially bisected into two halves by Memorial Industrial School Road, one section to the north and one to the south. The parks first phase of development took place in the early to mid-80's, with a few minor additions in later years. The park has been developed to be generally passive in nature. The current features of the park are a picnic facility with a detached restroom, a playground, numerous individual picnic table sites, a ball field, a disc golf course, nature trails, a dog park, a mountain bike trail, and a maintenance facility. This project (the "Project") will be to design single and double track bridle trails throughout the approximately 100 acres of selectively logged property. Firms are encouraged to utilize the site terrain, logging trails, and other site features to create multiple miles of trails that begin and end at a single trail head. Environmental research along with any work required for successful permitting or that is needed to meet all local, State, and Federal requirements should be included in your firm's response. In addition, the project should also include design of a new parking area, installation of automatic access gates, and trail signage. The participating firms should indicate how best to phase such a project should that be needed. The ability to maximize cost effectiveness to meet goals will be a factor in any design. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
