Description

This work shall include, but is not limited to, a 14,055 square foot fire station with living quarters for 30 people and three apparatus bays in the City of Hammond, Lake County, Indiana. This work shall be completed by October 10th, 2023. All Bidders must be properly licensed in the City of Hammond at the time bids are received. Contractors may contact the Hammond Building Inspections Department to inquire on General Contractor and Subcontractors licensing and requirements, at 219.853.6316 or the Hammond website Please note that the Hammond Contracting Board only meets once per month, at the first Monday of every month at 6:00 pm in the Inspection Department Conference Room. The deadline for submitting an application and required information for a Hammond License is one day prior to the meeting. For this bid, the next deadline to submit an application is June 5th , 2022 and then corresponding meeting date is June 6th, 2022. All Bidders must comply with Hammond Ordinance No. 9519 related to Responsible Bidding Practices that requires all Bidders to become prequalified by the City of Hammond Building Commissioner prior to submitting a Bid for Public Works for the City of Hammond. A copy of the ordinance is contained in the Contract Documents, Section 00 73 55. Contact the Hammond Building Department for more details at (219) 853-6317. No bidder may withdraw his proposal for a period of 60 days following the date set for receiving bids. The Board of Public Works & Safety - City of Hammond reserves the right to retain any and all bids for a period of not more than 60 days, and said bids shall remain in full force and effect during said time. The Board of Public Works & Safety - City of Hammond further reserves the right to waive informalities and to award the contract to any Bidder all to the advantage of the Board of Public Works & Safety - City of Hammond or to reject all bids. BID SECURITY: Each bid shall be accompanied by an acceptable certified check or cashier's check made payable to the Board of Public Works & Safety - City of Hammond or an acceptable Bid Bond in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the total bid price executed by an incorporated surety company in good standing and qualified to do business in the State of Indiana. BONDS: A performance bond and payment bond each in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price will be required. INDIANA REQUIREMENT: Standard Indiana Form 96 (Revised 2013) which includes non-collusion affidavit will be required. Contractors submitting a bid for City construction projects must subscribe to the Indiana Plan and a joint apprenticeship and training program for that project if their bid is accepted and provide proof of same before any payments are made. Each bidder must ensure that all employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, creed, color, sex or national origin and each bidder must conform with the antidiscrimination provisions of IC 5-16-6. An Affirmative Action Statement must be submitted at time of bid.
