Description | The Work: The Work (Base Bid + Add Alternate Work)includes but is not limited to, the H rehabilitation of approximately 2,075 linear feet of existing 8” diameter cast iron pipe (CIP) water mains in the Heather Hills subdivision of the City of Bowie using Class IV structural cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining; rehabilitation of approximately 10,544 linear feet of existing 6” diameter CIP water mains using Class IV structural CIPP lining; replacement of approximately 360 linear feet of existing 8” diameter CIP water mains with new ductile iron pipe through open trenching; and replacement of approximately 846 linear feet of existing 6” diameter CIP water mains with new ductile iron pipe through open trenching. The Work also includes providing water service to customers affected by temporary shutdown of the water mains in service, maintaining fire service through temporary bypass, re-connecting the CIPP lined cast iron pipes using ductile iron pipe & couplings at insertion/exit pits, installing new 8” and 6” diameter valves, replacing existing fire hydrants (valve and ductile iron spur pipe) and re-connecting approximately 277 residential water service connections to the CIPP lined cast iron pipes and sections of cast iron pipe replaced with ductile iron pipe. Replacement of water service pipe from the CIPP lined and new water mains to the outside meter pits is not included in this project. Existing water meter settings will not be replaced as part of this project. The primary purpose of this project is to improve local hydraulics since tuberculation is significant in the existing water mains.
