Description | Piping replacement inside the meter/chlorination building shall be sequenced so as to maximize continued operation and minimize shutdown of the system. Piping work requiring a shutdown shall be conducted once storage tank is at a suitable water level for a temporary shutdown. Contractor shall confirm water level with the Owner before initiating a temporary shutdown. In general, replacement of meter building piping and metering consists of the following: 1. Mobilization, demobilization & general conditions. 2. Limited temporary shutdown of the wells. 3. Disconnect plastic tubing from existing chlorine injection tap, temporarily seal, and reconnect to new chlorine injection tap. 4. Demolition of existing plumbing between inlet and outlet flanges. 5. Include in installation of each of the three (3) well supply lines from upstream to downstream in the following order: a. 4-inch CI 52 DI with 2-inch threads b. 2-inch copper threaded x soldered nipple c. 2-inch x 1.5-inch tee with brass ball valve and stainless quick connect fitting d. 2-inch copper 90 elbow c. 2-inch brass isolation ball valve #1 f. Smooth end sample tap with valve g. 1-inch PD Meter h. Conduit & wire from Meter 4-20 mA signal to SCADA/PLC panel i. 2-inch brass isolation ball valve #2 j . 2-inch brass check valve k. 2-inch copper tee 6. Include in installation of the discharge header from upstream to downstream in the following order in general, is: a. Chlorine injection tap #1 (connect to existing plastic tubing) b. Chlorine injection tap #2 (capped) c. PD Meter d. Conduit & wire for meter 4-20 mA signal to SCADA/PLC panel e. Smooth end sample tap with valve f. 2-inch x 1.5-inch tee with brass ball valve and stainless quick connect fitting g. 2-inch copper 90 elbow h. 2-inch copper threaded x soldered nipple i. 4-inch CI 52 DI with 2-inch threads 7. Remove loose paint and rust on 4-inch F L DI pipes through the floor and chip out any loose concrete. Properly prepare the substrate and apply a zinc rich primer and epoxy paint to the existing pipes and flanges that will remain. 8. Pressure testing, disinfection and bacterial testing All bids will remain subject to acceptance for 30 days after the day of the Bid Opening, but the Owner may, in its sole discretion, release any bid prior to that date. Minimum insurance requirements for this project shall be as required by Section 7 of the General Conditions. Carroll County, Underwood Engineers and Emery & Garrett Groundwater Inc (EGG1), a subsidiary of GZA shall be named as additional insured. The OWNER may waive any informalities or minor defects or reject any and all BIDS. The Owner reserves the right to award these singly or in any combination. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to accept any bid, to waive any informality on bids received and to make decisions that are in the best interest of the Owner. |
