Description

The Waltham Housing Authority, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from Electrical Contractors for the Fire Alarm Upgrade project at the Myrtle Street and Orange Street Developments for the Waltham Housing Authority in Waltham Massachusetts, in accordance with the documents prepared by Nangle Engineering Inc. The Project consists of: The replacement of the existing fire alarm system at each development with new, including demolition of the existing systems following acceptance of the new systems by the AHJ. The work is estimated to cost $271,653.00. Locations- 75-85 Myrtle St. Whalen Apartments, 82-86 Orange St. Waltham, MA Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 44A-J & to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.149 26 to 27H inclusive. General bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) in the category of Electrical. General bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not less than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount (considering all alternates), and made payable to the Waltham Housing Authority. General bidders must agree to contract with minority and women business enterprises as certified by the Supplier Diversity Office (SDO), formerly known as SOMWBA. The combined participation benchmark reserved for such enterprises shall not be less than 10.4% of the final contract price including accepted alternates. Request for waivers must be sent to DHCD (david.mcclave@mass.gov) 5 calendar days prior to the General Bid date if the work is estimated to cost less than $500,000 or 10 calendar days prior to the General Bid date if the work is estimated to cost $500,000 or more -NO WAIVERS WILL BE GRANTED AFTER THE BID DATE. See Contract Documents - Article 3 of the Instructions to Bidders. Attendees may bring and wear a face mask which covers the nose and mouth, and may wear gloves. To maintain social distancing, attendees may be asked to enter the work spaces one at a time. Meet at 77 Myrtle Street, near the master box at the front of the site. An observation will then be available at the Orange Street development after. The observation is an opportunity to visit and observe the site only. Any oral interpretations offered are non-binding. Any questions must be submitted in writing to the Designer, at the e-mail address on the Project Manual cover, no later than 4:00 PM on the Friday prior to the date stated above for the receipt of bids. Questions after that time may not be responded to, at the sole discretion of the designer. The Waltham Housing Authority reserves the right to waive any informalities in or to reject any and all bids, or to waive any informalities in the bidding. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days, Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays excluded, after approval of the award by the Waltham Housing Authority without written consent of the Waltham Housing Authority. SOMWBA - 10.4% The participation goals for this project shall be 15.3% for minorities and 6.9% for women. Completion- 150 consecutive calendar days. 1. Obtain all permits and approvals. 2. Provide a fully addressable code compliant fire alarm system upgrade at two developments, each with two (2) dwelling unit buildings and one (1) out building. 3. Demolition of existing fire alarm equipment, devices, raceways, conductors, supports, etc. as noted or shown on the plans. 4. Provide earthwork as specified and shown. 5. Provide asbestos abatement as specified and shown, at the Orange Street Development only. 6. Testing, training, commissioning, and demonstration of all systems; 7. Record Drawings; 8. Operation and Maintenance Instruction and Manuals; 9. Warranty. 10. All Work either shown on the drawings 11. All Work either shown on the drawings or included in the specifications unless specifically indicated as not to be done.
