DOA Fiber Infrastructure Improvements

Scope: The Project involves increasing capacity of the DOA fiber infrastructure backbone in the southwest quadrant of the airport. It involves approximately 56,000 linear feet of new fiber optic cable inclusive of 20,500 linear feet of 1728-strand fiber optic cable, 4,900 linear feet of 432-strand fiber optic cable, 24,500 linear feet of 144-strand fiber optic cable, and miscellaneous 24-strand and 48-strand fiber connections to existing infrastructure. Most of the fiber optic cable backbone will be installed in existing duct bank from Tech Campus to North Terminal in the southwest quadrant of the airport. The route also includes approximately 3,500 linear feet of new conduit installation. The project also involves the construction of three (3) above ground 12' x 30' precast fiber vaults at sites adjacent to the fiber optic cable backbone. The vault sites include civil site improvements including gravel parking, concrete paving, fencing, and drainage improvements. This new fiber optic backbone will provide redundant capacity and connectivity to existing DOA facilities, as well as future HJAIA projects.
