Description

The Project site is bound by Newark, Hoboken and Oakland Avenues. Cook Street will be removed, and Central Avenue will be extended through the adjacent block to create a new site boundary to the northwest. The Project site will cut through Hoboken Avenue to include the parking lot to the north. Additionally, Oakland Avenue will be widened to accommodate two-way traffic. The street work will be completed in 2020, and with these changes will create a 3.79-acre site for the new Justice Complex. The new Honorable Frank J. Guarini Justice Complex will house 24 Courtrooms (2 Civil, 10 Criminal, and 12 Family), Hearing and Mediation rooms, Grand Jury, and Jury Assembly spaces. Court Administration, the Hudson County Prosecutor, the Surrogate, and the Sheriff’s Department will also have office space the building. Amenities in the Justice Complex will include provisions for a 75-seat public food court, a self-help law library, a children’s play area, and training spaces for staff.
