Description

As of August 29, 2022, an architect and CM have been selected. JAY - Details concerning the Jay School Bond Proposition have been released. The three part proposition would affect the lower elementary, the upper elementary, the middle school, the high school, the agriculture building, the field house and the football field. Proposition 1 - New elementary cafeteria and safe room to be completed in three phases. Phase one would build a foundation and exterior partitions. Phase two would build the roof and HVAC and fixtures. Phase three would add windows, window fixtures, doors, plumbing, plumbing fixtures and additional school district equipment, fixtures and furnishings. Total cost: $3,320,000 - New wrestling room and safe room to be completed in three phases. Phase one would build a foundation and exterior partitions. Phase two would build the roof, add roofing fixtures, electrical fixtures and equipment, interior partitions and finishings. Phase three would including plumbing, plumbing fixtures, doors, windows, and additional school district equipment, fixtures and furnishings. Total cost: $3,315,000.00. - Remodeling of the high school building. This would remodel the cafeteria and restrooms, including walls, flooring, ceilings, and other interior finishes, as well as acquire additional school district furniture, fixtures and equipment. Total cost: $1,690,000.00. - Acquisition and installation of district wide technology equipment. This includes roof repairs, HVAC upgrades, remodel elementary restrooms, remodel old gym, the choir room and the band room, install new lockers at the middle school and high school, acquire new band instruments and additions school district furniture, fixtures and equipment. Total cost: $1,955,000.00. Proposition 2 - A new field house would be constructed, equipped and furnished, a eight lane track, bleachers, a press box and additional equipment and would install a natural grass football field and fencing. Total cost: $3,445,00000. Proposition 3 - Acquire student transportation equipment. Total cost: $800,000.00. Unpaid/Unfinished Bonds The Jay School District has two bonds previously approved by voters in the district. Bond 1: Purchase student transportation vehicles, pay all legal, financial and other costs relating to the issuance of bonds. This bond was elected on November 10, 2015, for the amount of $500,000. $250,000 remains to be paid off. Bond 2: Renovate and repair the existing Vo-Ag building, construct security improvements at the entrance of the upper elementary, middle school and high school, acquire and install windows at the middle school, acquire and install HVAC upgrades district-wide, construct site improvements via driveway and parking areas for the lower elementary, sidewalks and canopies for pickup areas at the upper elementary and middle school, as well as paying for all legal, financial and other costs relating to the issuance of bonds.
