Description

The Project generally involves relocating TSA's Canine Explosive Training Aid Storage Magazines (CETASMs, magazines) to a southwest corner of the Airport's Economy Lot 1 parking lot. The project includes the construction of a new magazine enclosure and relocating the magazines to the new enclosure. The enclosure will consist of a fence on k-rail with barbed wire topper and two (2) vehicle gates; concrete blast walls and a reinforced concrete slab and electrical infrastructure. BIDDERS BOND Each bid must be accompanied by cash, a certified check, a cashier's check or a bidder's bond in the sum of not less than 10% the total aggregate amount of the bid. Checks shall be made payable to the order of the City of San Jose. Bonds shall be executed by a surety possessing a valid certificate of authority issued by the California Department of Insurance and shall name the City of San Jose as beneficiary. All bids must be addressed to the Director of Public Works, City of San Jose, shall bear the Project Number and Name and be in a sealed envelope. PREVAILING WAGES (Municipal Affair) This project is a "public works" as defined in Sections 1720 through 1720.6 of the California Labor Code. In accordance with Chapter 14.09 of the San Jose Municipal Code entitled "Prevailing Wage Requirements for City Contracts Involving Public Works," the contractor will be required to comply with the prevailing wage provisions in California Labor Code Sections 1720 through 1861, and the City's Office of Equality Assurance is authorized to provide certain local enforcement of those provisions. As such, the contractor will need to pay not less than the general prevailing rate of per diem wages and the general prevailing rates for holiday and overtime work. Bidders must have a California contractor's license, classification A or B or C-10 to bid this project. BOND REQUIREMENTS Bidder's attention is directed to those provisions of the Specifications which require the contractor to whom the contract for the work is awarded, to file with the City Clerk at the time the contract is executed, a Contractor's Payment Bond and a Bond for Faithful Performance meeting all the requirements of the Specifications and approved by the City Attorney of the City of San Jose. Bonds shall be executed by a surety possessing a valid certificate of authority issued by the California Department of Insurance and shall name the City of San Jose as beneficiary. The Contractor's Faithful Performance Bond shall be for 100% of the contract amount. The Contractor's Payment Bond shall be for 100% of the contract amount.
