Flossmoor Public Library: Rooftop Chiller Replacement Project

Upon failure to do so, the bidder shall forfeit the amount deposited as liquidated damages and no mistakes or errors on the part of the bidder shall excuse the bidder or entitle them to a return of the aforementioned amount. No bid will be considered unless the bidder shall furnish evidence satisfactory to the Library Board of Trustees for the Flossmoor Public Library that the bidder has the necessary facilities, abilities, experience, equipment and financial and physical resources available to fulfill the conditions of the Contract and execute the work, should the Contract be awarded to it. Bidders will examine the plans and specifications and also the location in which said work is to be done and judge for themselves all the circumstances and surrounding conditions affecting the cost and nature of the work, and all bids will be presumed to be based on such examination, familiarity and judgment. The Board of Library Trustees reserves the right to reject any and all bids, and to waive any technicalities and irregularities in the bidding and to hold the bid proposals for a period of thirty (30) days from the date of opening set forth above. The Board of Library Trustees reserves the right to accept the bid that is, in its judgment, the best and most favorable to the interests of the Library and to the public. The successful bidder will be required to comply with the provisions of all State of Illinois and federal laws concerning public works projects as well as the State of Illinois Human Rights Act and the regulations of the Illinois Human Rights Commission. In addition, the successful bidder will be required to comply with the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act. The location of the project site referenced herein is the Flossmoor Public Library located at 1000 Sterling Avenue Flossmoor IL 60422. - The Scope includes all the work of all trades required; all the labor, materials and equipment shown, described, or necessary and incidental to the construction and completion of the work. Date of substantial completion on or before April 2024. - The scope of work includes all craning and or temporary shoring to both remove and install the new chiller on the roof top of the existing library. The Contractor is also responsible for obtaining any permits from the Village of Flossmoor to operate said crane for the necessary duration to complete the project. Extreme care must be taken to the site, underground utilities that could be damaged due to weight, and the exterior envelope of the existing library building while removing the existing and placing the new chiller unit. The cost to repair any damage done by the Contractor and any hired sub-contractors will be the sole responsibility of the said contractor to replace in kind. -Any repair work to the existing roof caused by damage from the Contractor shall be performed by the roofing contractor responsible for the existing roof warranty and will be back charged to the Contractor as a reverse change order. a. Remove existing air-cooled water chiller and branch piping/valving above the roof, and power/control conduit above the roof connected to chiller and remove from site. b. Provide new air-cooled water chiller and branch piping/valving above the roof as indicated in the contract documents including electrical for a functional chilled water system. c. Provide tie-in to the existing BAS system and components for a functioning BAS system. d. Provide extension of structural steel chiller support grillage as indicated and/or required. It is the responsibility of the contractor to understand the existing site conditions and to provide both engineering and shop drawings for any modifications to the existing grillage. All new steel to be galvanized including any modifications to the existing structure. e. Provide piping pressure testing and glycol fill/chemical treatment of chilled water system. f. All chilled water piping above the roof to be insulated and protected with a VentureClad 1577-CW-W exterior jacket per the contract documents. g. Provide all support of piping above the roof.
