Description | The Bureau of Reclamation, Lower Colorado Region, is contemplating a project for the removal of debris and sediment within the Main Outlet Drain Extension (MODE) below the historic Prison Hill area siphon in Yuma. Arizona. The Prison Hill Siphon is a 3,050-foot long, 10-foot diameter, reinforced concrete-lined pipe, single barrel siphon. This contract is to clean out the siphon to improve water flow, as it is an important throughway to other tunnel. A priority list to be created to tackle specific blockages, first, in the siphon and determine whether there is a need to come back the following year to clear additional blockages in the siphon. Briefly, the work includes but is not limited to the following (see attached draft PWS): a. The siphon is 50% plugged in the first 100 feet of the tunnel, with debris and sediment limiting movement to no further than 1,000 feet, before reaching debris dams (trash and sediment blockages). b. Need to determine the best method for cleaning and clearing the siphon and provide capability statements for similar work previously completed. Capability |
