Description | As of March 29, 2023, this project is in the conceptual phase and pending funding. An architect has not been selected. A firm timeline for construction has not been determined. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: A firm to provide architectural design services for the new construction of a library branch in Allingtown. Library space is approximately 12,000 square feet. The location is at 634 Orange Ave, West Haven, CT 06516. Preliminary building plans can be furnished upon request. The design should include, but not limited to: - A community room on the first floor to seat approximate 75, that can be divided, and allow for after hours access, adjacent to kitchen area. - Approximately two study rooms on the first floor, with 250 sq ft. - Design for children space at 2,680 sq ft, including a program/activity room at 680 sq ft - Design for teen space at 1,275 sq ft - Design for adult circulation and reference area at 3,300 sq ft - ADA compliant elevator for two floors - ADA compliant, unisex rest rooms on two floors - Design outside façade facing Orange Ave, Smyrna St, and Dayton St. with uniformity. - Heating and cooling systems throughout the building - Design a branch manager office of approximately 150 square feet on first floor - Design an environmentally controlled historical room at approx. 215 square feet - Design a parking lot for 60 cars, or as close this number as possible, with all current fire code regulations - Incorporate an indoor book drop meeting all fire code qualificationsThe design should include, but not limited to: - A community room on the first floor to seat approximate 75, that can be divided, and allow for after hours access, adjacent to kitchen area. - Approximately two study rooms on the first floor, with 250 sq ft. - Design for children space at 2,680 sq ft, including a program/activity room at 680 sq ft - Design for teen space at 1,275 sq ft - Design for adult circulation and reference area at 3,300 sq ft - ADA compliant elevator for two floors - ADA compliant, unisex rest rooms on two floors - Design outside façade facing Orange Ave, Smyrna St, and Dayton St. with uniformity. - Heating and cooling systems throughout the building - Design a branch manager office of approximately 150 square feet on first floor - Design an environmentally controlled historical room at approx. 215 square feet - Design a parking lot for 60 cars, or as close this number as possible, with all current fire code regulations - Incorporate an indoor book drop meeting all fire code qualifications - Incorporate and outdoor patio area on Orange Ave side of building. - Incorporate and outdoor patio area on Orange Ave side of building. Respondents should provide their qualifications, including project history, project and firm financials, management and operational personnel resumes, contemplated project structure, details and timing as well as references. If required, clarification of the RFQ may be obtained by contacting Colleen Bailie, Director of West Haven Public Library, at (203) 937-4233 no later than February 19, 2022. Evaluation and selection of the firm will be based on: design and technical competence, the capacity and capability to perform the work within an agreed upon timeframe, past record of performance, and knowledge of Federal, State, and Municipal procedures, and cost. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time. |
