Description | This is a multi-year project to accomplish the removal of Runway 5-23 obstructions to meet FAA Standards and extend Runway 5 by 600' to improve the City's ability to allow business jet operators to extend stage lengths. There are 3 phases of obstruction removal and 3 phases of construction associated with this CIP. Phases 1 and 2 of obstruction removal are complete. Phase 3 Runway 5-23 Obstruction Removal will include grading and stormwater management in the Runway Object Free Area and grading and stormwater management for NAVAID relocation. Site work will meet City and State grading, sediment and erosion control, and stormwater management guidelines. Phase 1, Extend Runway 5 will extend the current runway by 600'. The project will include final grading and paving for the 600' runway extension, a parallel taxiway extension, and the Runway 5 hold apron. Site work will meet City and State grading, sediment and erosion control, and stormwater management guidelines. Phase 2, Extend Runway 5 will relocate portions of the existing parallel taxiway that do not meet FAA standards. The project will include pavement demolition, grading, paving, and stormwater management for the parallel taxiway (north end of Runway 5-23) and the Runway 23 hold apron. Site work will meet City and State grading, sediment and erosion control, and stormwater management guidelines. Phase 3, Extend Runway 5 will relocate remaining portions of the existing parallel taxiway that do not meet FAA standards. The project will include pavement demolition, grading, paving, and stormwater management for the parallel taxiway (center section of Runway 5-23). Site work will meet City and State grading, sediment and erosion control, and stormwater management guidelines. This project is in included in the City's or County's FY 2023-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
