Description | 1. At Coykendall Science Building (CSB): Includes the replacement of 8” and smaller steel condenser water supply and return piping between the point where it enters the pipe tunnel in the Ground Floor Mechanical Equipment Room and the existing roof mounted cooling tower. The steel piping will be replaced with polypropylene piping. New valves, fittings, supports and instrumentation will be required. Piping exposed outdoors shall be insulated and clad in aluminum. To access piping, certain ceilings will be removed and replaced, and certain shafts or chases will be opened to perform work and later repaired. 2. At Student Union Building (SUB): Includes the replacement of 10” and smaller steel condenser water supply and return piping between the existing electric chiller in the Basement level Mechanical Equipment Room and the roof mounted cooling tower. The existing cooling tower will be replaced as well. The steel piping will be replaced with polypropylene piping. New valves, fittings, supports and instrumentation will be required. Steel dunnage supports for the cooling tower will be modified and augmented. Piping exposed outdoors shall be insulated and clad in aluminum. To access piping, certain ceilings will be removed and replaced, and certain shafts or chases will be opened to perform work and later repaired. 3. Old Main Building (OMB): Base Bid: Includes the replacement of 8” and smaller steel condenser water supply and return piping limited to that on the roof and running to the existing roof mounted cooling tower. The steel piping will be replaced with polypropylene piping. New valves, fittings, supports and instrumentation will be required. Piping exposed outdoors shall be insulated and clad in aluminum. |
