Lago Vista Library/City Hall Expansion

The City of Lago Vista (“City”) is seeking to expand the Lago Vista Public Library to add meeting room/open space and additional bathrooms. A major catalyst for the project is the need for space for additional library activities. The Base project will be a new 70-foot by 70- building addition to the west of the existing building, with an open area between the new and old. The addition shall accommodate two restrooms, and an enclosed break room for Library staff. The City has made available a rough schematic of the proposed building expansion, and a rendering of the architectural type of expansion sought. The existing building previously functioned as a fire station, then converted to a library through upgrades. The newly expanded section should have a modern transitional architectural theme, with a metal frame and siding, pier foundation for the columns and a floating concrete slab. The City is requesting that the Statements of Qualifications submitted include the two added expansion alternates below: 1. An added addition of 30-foot by 100-foot (approx.) building adjacent to the 70-foot expansion to connect this Library Expansion to the existing City Hall. That addition will have three rooms that are 33 feet in length. The selected design-build partner is to work City Staff on the City’s needs and provide the City with design for this expansion. This expansion is to accommodate additional bathrooms, two small offices, large outside doors, and an entry-way canopy. 2. An added alternate to include a second floor for the base bid (70’x70’) Library Expansion and the add alternate No. 1 above. This applicant to take into account elevator and stairwell needs. This second story to accommodate a balcony to the west as an outdoor meeting space no wider than 20’.
