Description

Work shall include repairs to the Village’s Lagoon No. 3 liner system. The North and East slopes have sloughed, or slid down the berm, causing an unevenly sloped lagoon berm and damage to the liner and cover. Lagoon No. 3 is currently offline and has a small amount of final effluent and sludge in it (approximately 4 ft, or 70,000 gallons). Repairs shall include pumping sludge and final effluent from Lagoon No. 3 to Lagoon No. 1A, removal of the sloughed rock blanket and sand material (referred to as “lagoon spoils”), removal of the damaged PVC liner such that a straight seam is created, restoration of sideslope to approximately 3:1, installation of a new PVC liner section and welded to the existing liner, placement of new cover sand and new rock blanket over the new liner, reinstalling and straightening the lagoon cover (which is currently disassembled and located adjacent to the lagoon), and placement of the lagoon spoils to the designated area within the existing site for future beneficial use to the Village. The lagoon spoils will be used to create additional usable land near the existing WWTF control building and shall meet the minimum placement requirements described in the specifications and on the contract drawings. Proposal #2: Work shall include replacement of the Village’s Lagoon No. 3 liner system. Lagoon No. 3 is currently offline and has a small amount of final effluent and sludge in it (approximately 4 ft, or 70,000 gallons). Replacements shall include pumping sludge and final effluent from Lagoon No. 3 to Lagoon No. 1A, removal of the liner cover sand and rock blanket over the entire lagoon, removal of the entire PVC lagoon liner, restoration of sideslopes to approximately 3:1 where necessary to match sideslopes shown on details from record drawings, installation of a new PVC liner, placement of new cover sand and new rock blanket over the new liner, reinstalling and straightening the lagoon cover (which is currently disassembled and located adjacent to the lagoon), and placement of the lagoon spoils to the designated area within the existing site for future beneficial use to the Village. The lagoon spoils will be used to create additional usable land near the existing WWTF control building and shall meet the minimum placement requirements described in the specifications and on the contract drawings.
