Description | The University of Louisville Procurement Services, on behalf of Physical Plant Department, (PPD) is seeking a qualified roofing contractor to remove and replace the roof on building 071, Kiln Shed, located on Belknap Campus. This roof is being replaced because it is made of combustible materials. The existing roof is part of an open-air structure providing cover for various kilns and other departmental equipment. Roof replacement requires new structural framing; contractors are to bid per drawings and specifications (Exhibit A and B). Contractor must provide services to remove and replace or temporarily support associated Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection currently supported by the roof and attached to existing structure including but not limited to: o Lights and site lights on structure o Circuits associated with power to Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) receptacles o Gas lines o Sprinkler Systems (antifreeze loop). The awarded contractor is to provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and permitting required to complete the project. The Contractor shall begin work and mobilize on site within ten (10) calendar days after having received written notice to proceed by the Owner. He shall carry the work forward expeditiously with adequate forces and management process for achieving completion within the contract time. All time limits stated in the Contract Documents are of the essence to the contract. Question Deadline :07/05/2023 at 2:00 PM ET. Vendors requesting clarifications may submit in writing questions for official response by the University. Questions should be sent via email to Evan Riddell (Contract Administrator) at evan.riddell@louisville.edu. All questions received shall be addressed by the University via addenda and sent to all known recipients of the Invitation to Bid. Addenda may also be viewed Electronically. Bids shall be accompanied by a bid guarantee of not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the base bid executed by a Surety Company authorized to do business in the State of Kentucky and countersigned by a licensed Kentucky Resident Agent representing the Surety Company. (Certified Check Acceptable) It is agreed that in the event that this bid is accepted by the owner and the Contractor shall fail to execute a contract within ten (10) consecutive calendar days from the date of notifications of the Award of Contract, the Owner shall determine that the contractor has abandoned the contract and thereupon, the Bid shall become null and void, and the bid guarantee, check of bid bond which accompanied it shall be forfeited and become the property of the Owner as liquidated damages for such failure and no protest pursuant to such action will be allowed. The awarded Contractor shall furnish a performance and payment bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price as security for the faithful performance of this contract and for the payment of all persons performing labor, including payment of all unemployed contributions which become due and payable under the Kentucky Unemployment Insurance Law furnishings materials in connection with this contract. Project Substantial Completion - Subject to the conditions of Article 16, "Delays and Extensions of Time" of the General Conditions, the Work to be done under this combined construction contract shall be commenced at the same time stipulated in the Work Order to the Contractor and shall be substantially completed in Ninety (90) consecutive calendar days thereafter. Final Completion - Subject to the conditions of Article 16, "Delays and Extension of Time" of the General Conditions, the total work to be done under this construction contract shall be fully completed within Thirty (30) consecutive calendar days after the Date of Substantial Completion. |
