Citrus Slash 20/21 Timber Sale

This sale is a thinning of approximately 146 acres of planted pine and hardwood from the Citrus Tract of Withlacoochee State Forest in Citrus County, Florida. Site one is a fourth row operator select thinning of planted longleaf pine. Timber to be removed includes every fourth row for access and select trees in the leave rows to reach a residual basal area of 50 square feet per acre. Timber to be harvested in the leave rows includes diseased, deformed, forked and suppressed trees as well as a portion of the intermediate and co-dominate to reach the desired basal area goal. Leave trees should be healthy trees with good form and crowns. Leave trees are not to be damaged. Site two is a marked leave tree thinning of planted slash pine and hardwood. Timber to be removed includes all unmarked pine timber as well as all hardwoods with the exception of post oaks greater than 8 inches DBH and live oaks greater than 12 inches DBH. Boundaries for the sale areas incudes roads, firelines, obvious timber type changes or orange paint. The estimated volume of timber to be removed includes 2,576 tons of hardwood pulpwood, 1,086 tons of pine pulpwood and 3,373 tons of pine chip-n-saw and better. This will be a twelve (12) month contract.
