Description

Door County is seeking proposals for a Pastinaca sativa (Wild Parsnip) & Fallopia japonica (Japanese knotweed) control project. The project consists of 4 parts, treatments for less than 8 acres of wild parsnip in county highway right-of-ways (ROW), treatments for about an acre of wild parsnip in one county run non-metallic mine, treatments for less than 5 acres of wild parsnip along state highway right-of-ways (ROW), and treatments for less than a quarter of an acre Japanese knotweed along state highway right-of-ways (ROW). The Door County Soil and Water Conservation Department (SWCD) and the Door County Highway Department are pleased to announce a wild parsnip & Japanese knotweed control program for several stretches of county highways, state highways, and one Door County non-metallic mine located in southern Door County. The SWCD will facilitate the program. Treatments for Wild Parsnip may begin as early as May 13th and must be completed before flowering or before August 1st, 2022, whichever occurs first. Treatments for Japanese knotweed may begin as soon as July 1st and must be completed before October 31st, 2022 or before the first killing frost in the Fall of 2022. SWCD will determine the end date based on available funds and/or the onset of project ending weather.
