Lower Artichoke Reservoir Dam Improvement - WA004 - City Of Newburyport

This CIP is to fund the maintenance required to the dam as outlined in the most recent dam inspection reports as well as to f und the replacement of the dam because it is currently 3-feel below FEMA 100-yr flood elevation. This vulnerability threatens our vital public water supplies. In addition, any new dam needs to address the rising seas, more intense storm events, and potential extended drought conditions that climate change will impose on the reservoirs. Potential funding from Executive Office of Energy and Environme ntal Affairs' Dam and Seawall Repair or Removal Program for preliminary design and permitting planning phase for a new dam. This project is included in the city's FY 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Project. As of August 25, 2022, further details regarding design and construction timelines have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
