Avenue of the Carolinas Intersection Improvements - Carowinds Boulevard Project

Avenue of the Carolinas Intersection Improvements - Carowinds Blvd. (YCE18282). The purpose of this project is to provide the following: 1. New eastbound left turn lane into Avenue of the Carolinas. The final design will provide two left turn lanes with 725 linear feet of full width storage, and 300 linear feet of taper. 2. New acceleration lane for westbound exit onto Carowinds Boulevard. The acceleration lane is to be 530 linear feet full width, with 300 linear feet taper. 3. New widening of Carowinds Boulevard for approximately 1,650 linear feet from centerline of the Avenue of the Carolinas westerly along the centerline of Carowinds Boulevard to tie into SCDOT Project P029132. 4. Modification of signals and striping for dual left turns only. 5. New Carowinds entry lane along Avenue of the Carolinas from the Carowinds intersection to the eight lane transition approaching the Carowinds entrance gate. 6. Closing of two driveways on Carowinds Boulevard between Avenue of the Carolinas and I-77. One driveway is at an Exxon Station, and one is at a Wendy’s/Shell Station. 7. Landscaping along Avenue of the Carolinas and Carowinds Boulevard. 8. Pedestrian crosswalk striping at the intersection of Carowinds Boulevard and Avenue of the Carolinas. 9. Relocation of 260 linear feet of 8” diameter gravity sewer, and 715 linear feet of 10” sewer with five sewer manholes and 140 linear feet of 18” cased bore.
