Description

The HVAC system at the historically significant Carlyle House in the City of Alexandria, VA was installed during the 1974 renovations, and is to be replaced due to end of useful life issues being experienced. All equipment has become increasingly expensive to maintain and is not reliable. The building is a working museum and all work is to be performed with preservation of the existing building materials. The demolition scope includes the complete removal of a multizone chilled water/electric heat air-handling unit in the attic and a chilled water/electric heat vertical fan coil unit in the basement. New work is the provision of a nominal 26-ton cooling/266 mbh variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heat-recovery system with five (5) concealed blower coil units with supplemental electric heating coils. Controls implement dehumidification operation.
