Description

This project provides for the asphalt resurfacing and concrete median barrier replacement of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Breezewood Connector from Milepost C-0.0 to Milepost C-1.54. The project involves asphalt milling, asphalt wearing course pavement, shoulder reconstruction, rock armor, pavement removal, embankment slope repairs, drainage improvements, concrete glare screen, single-face concrete barrier, moment slab with single-face barrier, guide rail, signing and pavement markings along the entirety of or localized areas within the project limits. Work also includes maintenance and protection of traffic Work items include, but are not limited to: 4,988 CY Excavation, Various Types 3,014 SF Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil Slope, Type D 10,607 TON Superpave Asphalt Mixture Design, Various Courses 2,483 TON Subbase (No. 2A) 69,382 SY Milling of Asphalt Pavement, 2" Depth 8,927 LF Remove Existing Guide Rail 6,150 LF Type 31-S Guide Rail 4,570 LF Remove Concrete Median Barrier, 34" 446 LF Single Face Concrete Barrier, 52" 5,320 LF Concrete Median Barrier, F-Shape, 50" Height 2,561 LF Asphalt Concrete Curb 12,198 EA Sonic Nap Alert Pattern (S.N.A.P.) 3,713 SY Shoulder Backup 412 LF Rock Armor 462 CY Rock Armor, Modified 37,318 LF Permanent Preformed Patterned Reflective Pavement Markings This project is located on the Breezewood Connector of the Pennsylvania Turnpike between Milepost C0.0 at the Breezewood Interchange Toll Plaza, Exit 161, and Milepost C-1.54 situated approximately 1.5 miles east of the Breezewood Interchange, Exit 161, at the US 30 Interchange in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. An electronic bid bond, from an approved vendor, with corporate surety, in the amount of five (5%) percent of the bid must be submitted with the proposal as bid security. The bid security of the three (3) low bidders will be retained until the execution of the contract. (The normal time for execution of the contract is approximately four [4] weeks.) A Prequalification Certification and Applicable Capacity Rating assigned by the Prequalification Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is a necessary prerequisite for bidding on this project. The opening and listing of bids not meeting all the terms and conditions of the bid advertisement or bid procedures does not act as a waiver or modification of any requirements contained in the bid advertisement or bid procedure. The Provisions of the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act of August 15, 1961, P.L. 987, as amended, together with the rates and regulations promulgated by the Secretary of Labor and Industry applicable thereto, shall apply to this contract.
