Description

The work for PMIS 177565: Conserve Old City Hall Watertable is to be bid as a base bid with 3 options and shall include, but is not limited to, all labor, materials and equipment required to accomplish the following work: 1. Clean schist water table of the north, east and west sides in their entirety to remove staining and bio-growth. 2. Poultice schist watertable of the north, east and west sides in their entirety to remove efflorescence and salts. 3. Stabilize areas of stone spalling, contour scaling, and delamination with mortar fill and grout injections. See Basis of Bid for quantities required. 4. Carefully cut out and repoint open, deteriorated or failed stone mortar joints. Cutting out of joints must be performed using hand tools unless written approval to use power tools is provided by COR. See Basis of Bid for quantities required. 5. Consolidate schist stone watertable on north, east and west sides of Old City Hall in their entirety using ethyl silicate consolidation treatment. Provide 4’ by 4’ mockup at location determined by COR for approval by COR before beginning work. Follow all consolidation treatment manufacturer’s directions and recommendations. 6. Remove existing window perimeter sealant and install new polyurethane sealant at interface between basement window perimeters and stone watertable at north, east, and west sides of Old City Hall. Sealant color must be approved by COR before beginning work. 7. Fabricate and install indicated or missing iron bars at to match the existing of the side east windows. Provide shop drawings for approval by COR before fabricating replacement bars. New bars to be hot dipped galvanized and prime painted prior to installation. See Basis of Bid for quantity required. 8. Remove all iron existing window bars consolidate, scrape, clean, prime, and paint all existing iron bars to be reused and all iron grates or grills whether removed or left in place with two (2) coats of approved exterior metal paint. Paint color to be approved by COR before beginning work. 9. Provide two new sill stones for the basement windows. New stones to be Wissahikon Schist matching the existing stones of the watertable in color, grain, texture and tooling. The new stones shall measure approximately 4’-10” in length x 8” in height x 7” in depth and shall have 11 to 12 core drilled holes approximately evenly spaced as shown in Detail 4/A2.1. Depth of the holes will be determined in the field. Placement of the stone(s) will require trimming/cutting or fitting the stone to match the stone that it replaces.
