Description | Generally, the work includes repairs and upgrades of the existing interiors of the passenger elevator Bids shall include: 1. Properly completed Proposal Form in duplicate. Bid Deposit in the amount of 10% of Bid. Not less than the prevailing wage rate as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor pursuant to Illinois Revised Statutes, Ch. 489, Sec. 39s-1 et. seq. All activities in the project shall conform to the relevant provisions of the City of Springfield Code of Ordinances (the "Code") including but not limited to, acquisition of necessary permits and other matters. The Project will be funded by a Legislative Grant. Bidders shall comply with all relevant terms and ordinary and customary redevelopment agreements pertaining to contract activities including, but not limited to, compliance with the Illinois Prevailing Wage, proof of participation in a US Dept of Labor certified apprenticeship program, comprehensive general liability, employer liability and workman's compensation insurance and equal employment opportunity. The successful bidder will be the lowest responsible bidder whose bid conforms to the requirements of the project and complies with all the provisions of the specifications. Bidders should respond to this notice by presentation of a proposed contract as provided in the bidders' packet containing a fixedprice bid for the work and such additional terms and conditions as bidder deems necessary or appropriate. All Bidders are advised that all work of this Contract shall be subject to the provisions of the "Illinois Prevailing Wage Act". Prevailing wage rates have been determined and are on file at the Office of the State of Illinois Department of Labor, telephone (217) 782-6206. All Bidders shall submit and enclose with their bid a notarized certification that the Contractor is not barred from bidding on the Contract as a result of a violation of either Section 33 E-3 or 33 E-4 of Article 33E, Public Act 85-1295 (Senate Bill 2002) effective January 1, 1989. Certification is located on the Bid Form, Section 00500, of the Project Manual. Bids shall be accompanied by a bid bond, bank draft, certified check, or cashier's check in the amount of 10% of Bid, made payable to Sears Redevelopment Corporation. Failure of Bidders to submit bid bond, certified check, or cashier's check in amount to cover proposals bid upon is cause for rejection of bid. The Successful Bidder will be required to provide Surety Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond, each equal to 100% of the contract cost on prescribed forms within ten (10) days after notice of acceptance is issued by Owner. Surety on bond shall be by a duly authorized U.S. Treasury Backed company licensed to do business in the State of Illinois, acceptable to Owner. The owner (Sears Building Development Corporation) reserves the right to reject any or all bids and reserves the right to waive any irregularity in bidding, which in their considered opinion is warranted. No bid shall be withdrawn for sixty (60) days after opening of bids without written consent of the Owner. Modernize the existing passenger elevator to meet the current building and elevator codes and to function properly. |
