Description

New 395,000 sf facility on occupied site. Demolition of the ext facility. New site improvements, including athletic fields, parking and site utilities will also be included. Time Period for Completed Project - Occupancy by Jan. 2026, Final Comp. Jan. 2027 The deadline for receipt of written questions is 1:00 PM EST on August 31, 2022 The Diman Regional Voc-Tech High School project will slightly grow the school enrollment to 1500 students serving grades 9 through 12. The preferred solution is for the construction of a new, 4 story, roughly 395,000 gsf facility that will be built on the east corner of the site and will be constructed over the existing track and field area and tucked into the hillside. The work will be phased and will be ongoing while the existing facility is in operation. After construction of the new facility, the existing facility will be demolished to make way for construction of the new track, athletic fields, and other site improvements. The new facility will include a large entry plaza that will be located on the west side of the facility with a pedestrian spine, adjacent to new centrally located parking areas that will serve both the new facility and fields. Additional parking and loading dock area will be located on the north and east side of the facility off Locust Street. Included within the project scope are upgrades to the existing softball and baseball fields, located at the southern corner of the site, and construction of a new track andmulti-use athletic field to the west of the new building. Site improvements will include, an outdoor learning amphitheater space, additional ADA access to the various fields, new circulation roads, drainage, utility infrastructure and parking areas, and other earthwork and landscape improvements. The new facility is organized with the large shops in Manufacturing, Engineering, Technology, Construction and Transportation, along with associated classroom spaces located on the lower level allowing for grade access. The Business, Consumer Services and Health Services areas are located on the Main and second levels. The publicly accesses shops such as Culinary Arts, and Graphics Communications have been located near the main entrance, along with the gymnasium and auditorium. Other academic spaces, classrooms, science labs, and special education spaces are on the second and third levels stacked above the large shops. The new school building will be built using concrete spread footing foundations, frost walls, structural steel frame and concrete slab on metal deck construction with a combination of masonry veneer, metal panel, rainscreen cladding and curtain wall facade system. Due to the complexity of the project, multiple construction phases, as well as being a fully occupied school during construction the School Building Committee voted for a Construction Manager at Risk delivery method
