Signalized Intersections Improvements

(1.22 Miles) the 3 Signalized Intersections Include: IL 72 at Oakton St (W Jct), IL 72 at IL 83 Busse Rd and IL 72 East of IL 83 (E Jct) IL 72 and IL 83 Intersection is Approx 1000 Ft South of I-90 Work for the project includes minor widening to provide dual left turn lanes on all four legs of the IL 72 at IL 83 Intersection, new signage and pavement markings to enhance continuity along IL 72, traffic signal replacement, installation of lighting, pedestrian and bicyclist accommodations, drainage improvements. This project consists of work at three intersections: 1) IL 72 at IL 83/ Busse Road 2) IL 72 at Oakton Street (W JCT) 3) IL 72 east of IL 83 (E JCT) The intersection of IL 72 at IL 83/Busse Road is located approximately 1.6 miles northwest of O’Hare International Airport and 1,000 feet south of I-90. This four-legged intersection is the focal point of this improvement (i.e., the center intersection). All four legs are under IDOT jurisdiction. IL 72 at Oakton Street (W JCT) is a “T” intersection 1000 feet west of the intersection of IL 72 at IL 83/Busse Road. The north and east legs are under IDOT jurisdiction. The west leg of Oakton Street belongs to Elk Grove Village. IL 72 east of IL 83 (E JCT) is a “T” intersection located 420 feet east of the center intersection. The south leg of IL 72 intersects Oakton Street at an oblique angle.
