Description | 1. Remove the existing 10,000-gallon underground tank following MDE regulations 2. Excavate and remove the existing UST tank and all associated piping. 3. Coordinate all work with the Maintenance Manager. 4. Fill the tank excavation to the level of the sidewalk with clean fill to 12” below the original grade. Place 12” of clean topsoil to bring the excavation site back to the original grades. 5. Design and install a new concrete tank pad to support a 3,000 gallon AST diesel tank after the UST is removed. The design shall include steel pipe bollards with sleeves Per NFPA code, yellow with red strip at top with reflectors to protect the tank from vehicular impact. 6. Provide a new UL-2085 labeled 3,000 gallon rectangular AST fuel waste oil tank with level gauge reading in inches, access ladder, fill port with spill bucket, stick port, ATG System and vents as required by state and/or federal regulations. 7. The 500 Gallon AST used for the emergency generator is to be properly abandoned in place and will be properly labeled out of service -dated abandoned and last product stored. Tank will remain vented. This AST will have the interior cleaned so that is all free of product, sludges as well a vapor. All openings will be properly capped and or locked as needed. 8. The new 3,000 Gallon tank will be used for both the emergency generator and the heating of the garage. The contractor is to install both to the new 3000-gallon tank to insure all is working properly. 9. Provide soil tests in the tank excavation area for petroleum contamination under the Unit Pricing. One soil test please add to your base bid. a. Note: Unit pricing is for additional testing required by MDE: • Perform 8015B TPH-DRO/GRO, 8260 Full Suite VOC’s including fuel oxygenates, and 8021 BTEX MTBE TBA. • Work shall include obtaining, transporting, testing, and analysis of sample to meet the requirements of that particular test. 10. Seed and mulch all disturbed areas not stabilized with pavement 11. Coordinate all work with MDE, schedule all necessary inspections and soil tests and provide all required documentation for the work performed. 12. Copy DGS and on site Facilities Management Division on all correspondence and reports concerning the work performed. 14. The contractor will be responsible to obtain and pay for all inspections and any permits necessary for the entire project. 15. All work shall be coordinated with the onsite Project Manager at the work initiation meeting. Work shall be completed in 120 calendar days after notice to proceed is given. The hours of operation are weekdays from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Access to the facility prior to 7:30 a.m., or after 4:00 p.m., must be coordinated with the onsite Project Manager a minimum of 48 hours in advance. 16. Prepare and submit all required reports to MDE, with copies to the DGS and the Onsite Project Manager. 17. The Contractor shall be solely responsible for locating all existing underground utilities, prior to excavation, using an independent utility locator. |
