Description | Countertops located on lower cabinetry workstations and reception area (including vertical face) shall be replaced with anti-bacterial solid-surface material (ex: copper-infused) in rooms 370, 372, and 390. The vertical reception area counter face may be replaced with a separate material approved during the submittal process by the Facility Manager. Countertop material shall be selected from standard color patterns during the submittal process and countertop profiles shall be coordinated with the Facility Manager. There is approximately 161 square feet of existing horizontal countertop (not including the 6” vertical laminated counter extension at the outside of the Receptionist/Check-in area on the waiting room side) and approximately 80 linear feet of 4”H backsplash on top of the existing countertops in these areas. Countertops located on lower cabinetry, pony walls (3), and window sills (2) with bottom 2” H strip shall be replaced with phenolic (light gray preferred) material in rooms 373, 374, 377, 378, 379, 380, 381, 382, and 385. The window sill ledge may be replaced with solid surface in #3 below. Use of stainless steel where applicable is acceptable by Facility Manager’s approval. There is approximately 454 square feet of existing horizontal countertop and approximately 243 linear feet of 4”H backsplash on top of the existing countertops in these areas. Countertops located in Lab Staff Offices 387 and 389 shall be replaced with solid-surface material, standard color patterns. There is approximately 61 square feet of existing horizontal countertop and approximately 39 linear feet of 4”H backsplash on top of the existing countertops in these areas All replacement countertops and original lower cabinetry in Lab Staff office 387 shall be raised 1” by installing taller bases (2 total, each base is 14” wide x 21-1/2” deep) or spacer between the cabinet and base, and moving all wall brackets up to accommodate the raised height. The existing counter top surface is 29” and is too low with the 4” drawers underneath to adequately accommodate staff. Replace cove base as needed on 3 sides of each base to accommodate for the rise in base height. Contractor shall also install additional wall bracing where needed to properly support the long countertop span on the west wall that has no lower cabinetry to support the weight. The existing long span is sagging. |
