Description | The purpose of this bid is to secure a company to provide and install two (2) wooden dance floors and sand and finish the existing theater stage. Dance Floor A shall be 54 ft x 27 ft (1,458 sq ft). Dance Floor B shall be 54 ft x 27 ft (1,458 sq ft). The existing theater stage is 28 ft x 40 ft (1,120 sq ft). Preparation: Moisture test performed in several parts of the gym floor prior to starting Demo & dispose of existing carpet in preparing the floors Concrete: Remove sub-floor ridges and bumps. Fill minor low spots, cracks, joints, holes, and other defects with subfloor filler to achieve smooth, flat, hard surface Provide any needed repairs to concrete/shimming to meet wood floor flatness requirement of 1/8" in 10ft Provide a timeline for installation Mask off adjacent surfaces before beginning sanding Install: Random Length Maple Flooring 2nd & Better Grade (straight-lay pattern only) Tongue and groove edges, end matched Cut: Flat grain Moisture Content: 7 to 9 percent Thickness: 25/32 inch Width: 2-1/4 inches Length: Random, minimum of 9 inches, maximum of 8 feet; finger jointed lengths not permitted Provide 1 inch expansion space at walls and other interruptions Sand flooring to smooth even finish with no evidence of sander marks Remove dust by vacuum Subflooring: 2 layers 1/2" CD-X plywood 1/2" Foam 6 mil. poly moisture barrier Finishes: Stain: Apply 1 coat of stain -- Color to be determined Sealer: Sanded with 2 coats oil-based wood sealer Finish Coats: 2 coats of water based polymeric resin; high gloss 4" Black rubber vent cove wall base, mitering inside corners and anchoring to walls with base cement or screws and anchors 5 ADA door transition/ramps - Aluminum Thresholds Flooring shall be stored on the premises before installation commences as required for acclimation. Final determination as to acclimation will be made by the flooring contractor Remove excess and waste materials from the area of work Provide a final cleaning and dusty of the surrounding work area. |
