Athletics Turf Replacement

Replacement of multiple athletics turf fields on Eastern Kentucky University’s Richmond Campus. Hanger Field at Roy Kidd Stadium: EKU is requesting the removal and replacement of the existing infill synthetic turf on Hanger Field at Roy Kidd Stadium. See Attachment A for location and Attachment B for an aerial view of this field. EKU is also requesting synthetic turf installation on the gravel area (approximately 110’x86’) in the southeast corner of the stadium. This area was formerly a synthetic turf area. Please see Attachment B for exact location of this gravel lot. Schedule for this work is as follows: • Start of construction: May 24th, 2021 • Substantial completion: August 1st, 2021 Proposals may want to include unique techniques to improve drainage within the stone base system if needed. Intramural Field Complex: EKU is requesting the removal and replacement of the existing infill synthetic turf at the Intramural Field Complex. Please see Attachment A for the location of this field complex and Attachment C for an aerial view which will assist with desired field markings requested. Field multicolor lines for the following sports are requested. • Division 1 Football • NIRSA Flag Football • Intramural Soccer • NCAA D1 Soccer • Softball foul lines and batter’s boxes Schedule for this work is as follows: • Start of construction: May 1st, 2021 • Substantial Completion: July 1st, 2021 Proposals may want to include unique techniques to improve drainage within the stone base system if needed. Leach Driving Lot: EKU is requesting the design-build installation of infill synthetic turf on top of the asphalt parking lot at the Intramural Field Complex. We are requesting the turf to lay on top of the current asphalt lot provided drainage and slope tolerances are acceptable. Please see Attachment A for location and Attachment E for an aerial view of this lot. Note that the north portion of the lot is to remain paving and the south end to be turf fields, as shown in Attachment E. Field multicolor lines for the following sports are requested. • Two high school soccer fields • Baseball field markings • Softball field markings Schedule for this work is as follows: • Start of construction: May 1st, 2021 • Substantial Completion: August 1st, 2021 Throughout the design-build process the Owner is an integral part of the design team, and EKU personnel will participate throughout the design process. EKU’s input and approval on the final design are required. Turkey Hughes Baseball Field: EKU is requesting the design-build installation of infill synthetic turf for the entire baseball field complex. The infield is currently synthetic turf, and the outfield is natural grass. Current outfield will require excavation of soil, installation of sub drainage, installation of gravel & stone base, and mass grading. See Attachment A for location and Attachment D for an aerial view of this field. We are requesting current grades remain to allow the outfield fencing and brick field walls may remain intact. EKU’s input on the final design is very important. • Full color EKU Power E Logo will be sewn into the turf behind home plate • Two-tone green EKU logo may be sewn into center-field (optional) Schedule for this work is as follows: • Start of work: July 1st, 2021 • Substantial Completion: September 15, 2021 Throughout the design-build process the owner is an integral part of the design team, and EKU personnel will participation throughout the design process.
