Adapting the Old Cibolo Schoolhouse for New City Hall Annex. The historic schoolhouse building will be rehabilitated to accommodate the modern technological needs of these civic services while also preserving the historic character of the structure. Built in 1916, the two-story, 8,000 square-foot schoolhouse was constructed with load-bearing masonry exterior walls and wood-framed interior walls, floors, and roof. An update in the 1950’s added a single-story wing to the west and replaced windows on the main structure with steel-sash windows. The single-story addition is in poor condition and is planned to be demolished. Restoration of the schoolhouse will include, but not limited to work to the exterior masonry, windows, and interior wood casework and trim. Modern updates will include, but is not limited to new mechanical, electrical, data, security, and plumbing systems, sealing and insulating the building envelope, and compliance with accessibility standards.
