Lake Murray WTP Taste & Odor Treatment System (WM4543) CDBE

This section consists of a schedule of 4 inch and larger pipelines indicating the type of pipe to be used. Pipe materials, installation, testing, and disinfection, when specified, are covered in other sections. Piping smaller than 4 inch is covered in the various miscellaneous piping sections. Piping for plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems is covered in other sections. Piping to be furnished with equipment is covered in the applicable equipment section. The Contractor and each of his subcontractors shall comply with all applicable Federal, State and local laws or ordinances with respect to the hours worked by laborers and mechanics engaged in work on the project and with respect to compensation for overtime. The owner reserves the right to accept and use any portion of the completed work deemed necessary by the City Engineer to protect the public health and safety. The security to be furnished by the bidder as a guaranty of good faith that he will enter into a contract with the City and to execute the required bond covering the work contemplated, if same is awarded to him. The approved form of security furnished by the Contractor and his Surety as a guarantee of good faith and ability on the part f the Contractor to execute the work in accordance with the terms of the plans, specifications and contract, and the payment of all debt pertaining to the work and the maintenance of the work as provided by law of by these specifications. Rehabilitation of the existing powdered activated carbon system at the Lake Murray WTP, including addition of a new carbon storage tank and associated equipment. The following major items are included: a. Addition of a new powdered activated carbon slurry storage tank with associated equipment, piping, valves, mixer, jib crane, instrumentation and control. b. Chemical metering pump improvements, including: one (1) additional carbon slurry metering pump, and replacement of existing pump VFDs. c. Carbon slurry yard piping upgrades including new valve vault/platform. d. Upgrades to the existing carbon slurry storage tank equipment. e. Upgrades to the existing pump & electrical rooms. f.
