Description

The City of Cadillac is inviting bids from experienced water well companies for the cleaning of a 16”, 435-feet deep, municipal water well. 1. Pull vertical turbine pump from well, cover and store in a secure manner. 2. Place airlift equipment in well to be able to inject acid solution directly into the screen area. 3. Inject 400 gallons of 15% muriatic acid into the screen area. 4. Agitate acid solution with airlift system for a minimum of four hours. 5. Airlift spent acid to waste until water is clear. 6. Inject a second solution of 15% muriatic acid into the screen area and agitate with the airlift system for a minimum of three hours. 7. Add 500 gallons of water to the well to displace acid into the formation. Agitate for an additional 30 minutes. 8. Airlift spent acid to waste until water is clear. 9. Inject a solution of bicarbonate into the well screen area sufficient to neutralize the acid residue to a PH of 7.6 – 8.0. 10. Airlift spent bicarbonate to waste 11. Inject a chlorine solution into the screen area so as to provide a concentration of 100 mg/L of chlorine throughout the entire submerged casing zone. 12. Air agitate the chlorine solution for a minimum of four hours. 13. Airlift spent chlorine solution to waste, until chlorine residual is at or below 1.0 mg/L 14. All Chlorine, Bicarbonate and Chlorine waste must be disposed of at the City of Cadillac Wastewater Treatment Plant, with the wastewater supervisor’s approval. 15. Reset (vertical turbine pump) as follows: immediately prior to re-setting each length of column piping, shafting and pump unit, spray or swab each unit with a 50mg/L solution of chlorine. 16. Pump to waste for one hour. 17. Production data, prior and post cleaning, must be provided to the City. 18. Provide the City with detailed information for any repairs needed to bring the well up to optimal standards. The City may instruct company to make recommended repairs on a time and material basis.
