Description | A. Waste Disposal Requirement For the purpose of the contract, bio-hazardous and chemical waste is defined as any bodily fluids and excreta and materials that contain body fluids and excreta including but not limited to laboratory used media and reagents, spent cell cultures, specimen containers, syringes, dressings, gloves and used PPE, etc. The contractor shall provide removal and disposal services of properly packaged bio-hazardous and chemical waste which includes needles, scalpels, blood products, bandages and other items in the medical waste category as defined by OSHA at the designated PHL location at 401 E Street SW Washington, DC. 1. Contractor shall remove and dispose of all bio-hazardous and chemical waste, including sharps ("used" syringe container), broken glass containers, etc. from all laboratory areas supporting DHS/CWMD activities. 2. Contractor shall supply consumable products such as bio-hazard bags and boxes, labeling tapes, labels and other ancillary equipment for ease of handling of such containers. The Contractor shall provide initial consumable products no later than 4 calendar days post award to the facility as directed by the COR. The Contractor shall provide a means of identifying waste containers to be picked up and disposed under this contract with consumable deliveries on a continual basis to prevent inadvertent collection of laboratory waste not affiliated with this contract. 3. Contractor shall ensure that staff has knowledge of how to properly handle and dispose of all waste contaminated with body fluids, and laboratory bio-hazardous materials and chemical materials to be transported according to their protocols. 4. The Contractor shall furnish assurance of compliance with EPA guidelines for disposal of infectious and medical waste. The waste shall not be disposed of in landfills or regular garbage sites. |
